The new bar Veranda Grand Baie Ti’Lambic which refers to the still used to distil alcohol, offers its customers a unique selection of rums! The rums ’ recipes have been jealously guarded since 1982: cinnamon, vanilla and also hot pepper, passion fruit and many more!
The new ‘Bellevue’ a la carte restaurant offers cuisine from land and sea, such as its delicious octopus curry in coconut milk or papaya, an authentically Mauritian culinary discovery.

A new Sega CD for the guests of Veranda Pointe aux Biches.
Created, sung and arranged by Jean Louis David in charge of Entertainment at the hotel, this unique composition illustrates through his words the hotel’ s values: integrity, respect, honesty, equity, pro-activity and trust. ‘To let our guests discover Mauritian culture a little bit more as has been the leitmotiv in creating this cd’ says David.
An approach that is in line with the group’s mission: the creation of authentic moments, this time through music. This CD is on sale at the hotel for 250 rupees but is also distributed to journalists, trade partners and VIPs during their visits and stays at the hotel.

Supporting ecotourism and job creation !
With the strong belief that lagoon conservation in Mauritius relies on community outreach and educational opportunities, Veranda Resorts will fund the Certified Marine Eco Guide Course project this year. This educational project will be led by a specialist in marine environments and is endorsed by the NGO Reef Conservation, with which Veranda Group has been a partner for three years.
The course, starting in a few weeks, will enable young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, those seeking work and fishermen wanting to diversify their skill set to access jobs in the tourism sector. This qualification is a step towards a more professional approach to marine conservation and ecotourism in Mauritius.

Since the month of September, hotel guests can enjoy stunning views of the sea with their significant others while lounging on exquisite and charming post beds or deck chairs for two. A new gazebo ideal for weddings with a tropical flavour has also been installed recently.

Veranda Pointe aux Biches with a new taste
The Veranda Pointe aux Biches Hotel provides since recently a different gourmet experience by giving its guests the opportunity to choose their dishes. Every Thursday, a happy few have the chance to taste and give their opinion on new dishes before these are eventually added to the menus of the hotel’s restaurants.
Hotel guests can also enjoy live cooking shows at dinner and the restaurants’ menus have been expanded with a whole range of new tastes – deer meat, smoked pork, veal liver and, depending on the availability, Camaron shrimps, among others.

The French Judo delegation at the Veranda Pointe aux Biches !
From 29 May to 6 June 2010, Veranda Pointe aux Biches had
the pleasure of playing host to the French Judo champions.
After participating in the Rio Masters tournament, the team
chose Veranda Pointe aux Biches to revitalize and strengthen
the cohesion of the group.
Among the participants, all members of the France team, we
should note the presence of Teddy Riner the World Champion
in all categories, and who the experts regard as the successor to
David Douillet. The delegation also includes many other stars of
French judo including Matthew Dafreville the world number
one in 2010, Benjamin Darbelet runner up to the Olympic
champion in Beijing, Cyril and Sébastien Maret Bonvoisin,
Champions of France in 2010.

Veranda Grand Baie is getting a facelift!
In order to offer our clientele a more enjoyable experience in this oasis of Creole charm in the heart of the lively Grand Baie resort, Veranda Grand Baie, a key destination in Mauritius’s tourism landscape is going to be renovated. Work will begin on 1 June 2010 and is planned to end on 30 September 2010. The bedrooms will be completely refurbished in the typical Creole style of the hotel but with more contemporary touches. In the same decorative spirit, the work will extend into the public spaces, bars, restaurants and gardens. This establishment which is recognized and appreciated for its charm and friendliness will reopen its doors on 1 October 2010.

Three cycling champions at Veranda Grand Baie
As part of the 28th edition of the Tour of Mauritius 2009, Veranda Grand Baie was pleased to welcome a delegation of prominent athletes including Bernard Thevenet, the twice former champion of the Tour de France, Georges Sylvain, the winner of the Tour de Mauritius 2009 and Andrew McLean, one of the greatest South African cycling champions. The latter were members of the Standard Bank Cycling Team and DSTV team, both winning teams sponsored by Veranda Resorts!

Safeguard the marine habitat.
The installation, at the end of April, of a mooring buoy at ONG Reef Mauritius Conservation, in the Grand-Bay lagoon means that the coral reefs are protected. Boats can tie up to the buoy, so ensuring that they
do not have to drop their anchors and destroy the corals. This initiative, financed by the Veranda Grand Bay Hotel & Spa, is in line with its policy of social responsibility which encompasses an important environmental
aspect, combining protection and education.
